Use two viewing sizes
First look at the whole case at roughly the size it appears in your hand. Notice the main color and whether one shape stands out immediately. Then enlarge the listing image. A detail that is charming up close may disappear at arm's length; a small repeated mark may merge into a single color field.
This is a visual preference check, not a prediction of print sharpness. A listing image alone cannot establish the finished material, color accuracy or durability.
Read the density, not just the motif
Ask how often the motif repeats and how much quiet space separates its parts. An all-over animal print creates a steady visual rhythm. Patchwork mixes several small subjects, so your eye moves between them. A nearly plain case puts attention on the phone's overall color and shape instead.
Quick test: At small size, can you still name the detail you liked? If you mainly see texture, decide whether you would enjoy that texture even when the individual motifs are hard to pick out.
For a busy pattern, also look at the case edge and corners. A cropped repeat can feel intentional, but do not assume the exact motif placement will be identical across every phone model.
Give the camera opening a second look
The camera opening interrupts the artwork. On a small repeating pattern, this may have little effect on the overall rhythm. On a patchwork design, it could hide a particular flower or character. Select your exact phone model in the store, then inspect the image shown for that option. If the listing does not show a model-specific view, ask the store before ordering when placement matters to you.
